Identifying the materials used in this lighter

Postby Mianorra » Sat Aug 12, 2017 10:35 pm

Hello all,

Looking for a little bit of help figuring out the materials used in this lighter. It is a Vintage Sang Xin Electric Butane Chrome Plated Wind Proof Lighter. I have attached images of the lighter below, except mine is number 2858 not the number in the photo.

I am trying to figure out what the material beneath the chrome plating is - it is quite a heavy piece. I am worried it is lead, but that seems a bit odd to me.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,

Mianorra

Using lead is very unlikely. I would say the base metal is brass or steel (magnetic).
